Elmo goes to Mark's birthday party

So I think we have all discovered that Eric leads a very busy and exciting life! Elmo is loving being there with Eric and meeting all of his friends. This week it was Mark's Birthday. So Eric took Elmo along to the party. This is the second birthday party that Elmo has been to now with Eric. Elmo wonders when his birthday is?

Eric and Elmo arrived at the party late, so the first thing done was to light the cake and start singing!

I hope Mark made a good wish since he blew all the candles out in one breath!

Elmo visits the Kentucky Horse Park

Aunt Kristyn took Elmo to work today at the Kentucky Horse Park. The KHP covers 1,224 acres. The park is home to some 115 horses representing approximately 50 different breeds during our main summer season.

She VERY busy preparing for the World Equestrian Games in less than 6 months!  Everyone in Lexington is talking about this major worldwide event because it's estimated that up to 600,000 people will be visiting!

Elmo is all strapped in Kristyn's Infiniti and ready to go to work! Eric was jealous because he REALLY likes her car!

Elmo hung out in Kristyn's office since it was pretty cool outside for most of the morning.

Elmo was rescued from Kristyn's office by Christine and she gave him some chocolate! A definite reward for being so good all morning.

Elmo was very happy about the nice view from Kristyn's office window! So sunny and clear, Elmo was sure spring was here for good and winter was over!

Elmo was learning about horses by reading "In Stride" magazine.

After lunch it was warmer. He sat on a statue of a donkey named Happy Go Lucky. Christine and Kristyn said he was impersonating Sancho Panza.

Then he sat in the "Big Chairs."

In 1978, the Kentucky Horse Park became the first American host of the World Three Day Event Championships. The cross country phase of the championships featured some of the most challenging obstacles in the world. These chairs were two of the eight which surrounded fence number 10, the "Giants Table."

He wanted to go on a horse drawn tour, but they were over for the day. However, he did get to sit on the back on one of the trolleys.

Then Elmo went to visit some of the horses in the barns - he saw several big draft horses. Some were still in their harnesses from pulling the trolleys.

Next Elmo went to see the Secretariat statue.

The Edwin Bogucki Secretariat bronze at the Kentucky Horse Park depicts the incredible thoroughbred race horse that captured thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown in 1973 and won the Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths. In this life-size statue, he is being led into the winner's circle after his win in the Kentucky Derby by groom, Eddie Sweat with jockey Ron Turcotte in the irons. The bronze weighs 1,500 pounds and is the centerpiece of the Secretariat Plaza at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Elmo was impressed with Man O' War's history. He asked Eric if it's the same Man O' War that he lives close to. Eric said yes, Man O' War Blvd. was named after one of the greatest race horses in history!

The Man o' War statue, sculpted by Herbert Haseltine (1877-1962), stands on a pedestal just inside the entrance to the park grounds. He was foaled in March of 1917 at August Belmont's Nursery Stood just north of Lexington, and was considered the greatest thoroughbred of the 20th century. Man o' War won 20 of 21 races, with his only loss ironically coming at the hands of a horse named Upset.

After retiring from the track to Sam Riddle's Faraway Farm in Lexington, he became one of the top breeding stallions country, and was the sire of the Triple Crown winning War Admiral.

The Man o' War statue first stood over his grave on the grounds of Faraway Farm, where he died in 1948. Both his grave and the statue were moved to the Kentucky Horse Park in 1977.

Lastly - he climbed on the little jump in the USHJA (United States Horse Jumping Association) lobby. Luckily, no one saw him do this as it would have been frowned upon.

Elmo had a fantastic day at the track with Aunt Kristyn and Christine. Elmo says thank you so much for the fun day. Elmo hopes he can ride a horse next time. Elmo remembers when he was in Calgary with Chaundelle and Elmo got to sit on a horse up there. Maybe Elmo can teach Lauren about horses when Elmo and Lauren go back to Calgary in July.

Elmo is so tired from his big day at work and Elmo needs to go to bed. Eric says there is more basketball and fun to come.

Oh the horrible sorrow

Elmo and Eric watched a ballgame on TV and well....UK lost to West Virginia after both teams played horribly! Elmo thinks the pictures tell it all!

Eric couldn't bare the fact that Elmo had to watch that game!

OH THE PAIN! It was just too painful to watch TV even after it was over!

Need Elmo say anymore?

Elmo watches UK win a tournament game

Elmo and Eric went over to DJ and Kristyn's house to watch UK play Cornell.

Misty (DJ and Kristyn's blue heeler) and Grace (Kristyn's mom's dog) was checking out Elmo. Misty has a VERY loud bark! Elmo is not sure he likes dogs....

Misty wasn't impressed with Elmo anymore, but Winston loves him!

Misty, Grace, and Winston pose with Elmo while all 4 show off their UK clothes!

Elmo still isnt sure he likes dogs but he does like the lil dog! Thanks DJ and Kristyn for having Elmo and Eric over. Elmo did like watching the game and snuggling with Winston on the couch!

Scott holds up Elmo for all to see. Jordan is enthralled with something else. HA!

Nancy is curious where Elmo got his cool UK basketball shirt. . . . .Yeah, that's the story we're going with.

Elmo learns BlackJack!

Boy oh boy Elmo has some stories to tell you!! Elmo is still with Eric, and Elmo thinks this is really neat because Elmo has been learning how to play Black Jack! Elmo didn't know what Black Jack was, but Eric has taught Elmo how to play! Elmo thinks that Las Vegas might be his next stop.

Elmo thinks Eric has done  a wonderful job on the story too!

Posing in Eric's  Casino

Eric questions the Candian money that Elmo bought to the table.

Elmo bought in for $500 (after the exchange rate to US$) , I suspect Shannon gave him some mad money before he left Canada.

NICE! Blackjack on the first hand! Elmo wins $7.50 on his $5 bet!

In the Vegas casino's (where Elmo's host Eric lived for 12 years) gamblers get free drinks. Elmo chose bottled water since he's a good boy, Eric just rolled his eyes.

NO NO ELMO! You don't split 10's!

OMG, he won by splitting 10's and won $50 on his $50 bet! That rarely happens, other players at the table would have been mad and shocked at the same time!

Eric, the dealer, asked Elmo if he'd like to make the table a higher limit table, Eric explained that this would prevent the cheap $5 inexperienced players from joining and messing up his mojo.

Eric transforms into a high limit dealer and puts on the standard tuxedo and bands his long hair back.

NICE! First big bet and Elmo gets a blackjack and wins $450 on his $300 bet!

Eric LOVES Elmo, he tips well!

Elmo just can't lose! After going through 2 shoes (6 decks of cards all mixed together), he's playing with $5000 chips! (blue ones) He's got a 19 and a 18 showing against the dealer's 10 . . .

Eric is in shock when he plays the dealers hand.

The dealer busts with 24 and Elmo wins $20000 on his 2 separate $10000 bets! The orange chip is worth $25000.

Elmo shows off his massive stash of chips! 175k in orange, 50k in blue, 14k in yellow, 6500 in pink, 2000 in black, 125 in green, 10 in white, 25 in red for a total of $247,660

YIKES! Elmo that was $100,000 bet and you lost!

Oh dear, Elmo is down to $60 and he's got 11 and the dealer is showing a 6! Maybe this is the time he comes back?!?!?! Double down Elmo! DOUBLE DOWN against that 6!

OH CRAP! The dealer drew a 21 and Elmo had 15! UGH! Eric assured him that he was there to comfort him on his massive roller coaster ride of winning to losing.

uh oh. Elmo misunderstood the comforting Eric was talking about. The cocktail waitress came by and she thought he meant SOUTHERN comfort. Not the kind of comfort Elmo either wanted or needed!

Eric REALLY needs to comfort him now. So sorry Elmo, that cocktail waitress is FIRED!

Eric and Elmo in the good times of his nearly quarter of a million dollar run.

Elmo had a fantastic time learning how to play Black Jack and wonders if Roulette is next on the agenda??

Stay tuned for more of Elmo and Eric's fun times!!

Love from Elmo!
