Elmo goes to Friday night dinner with the Church Group

Elmo was a big hit at Jessica's birthday party, so no surprise he was a big hit at the weekly Friday Night Dinner sponsored by Embrace Church  and hosted by Rev. Roz.

Scott holds up Elmo for all to see. Jordan is enthralled with something else. HA!

Nancy is curious where Elmo got his cool UK basketball shirt. . . . .Yeah, that's the story we're going with.

Nancy's job as an R.N. kicks in and she cradles Elmo like a patient!

Elmo had a really great time with Eric's friends for Friday Night Dinner and hopes he gets to go back again soon.!

Elmo is still enjoying him self with Eric and more posts to come soon

Elmo learns BlackJack!

Boy oh boy Elmo has some stories to tell you!! Elmo is still with Eric, and Elmo thinks this is really neat because Elmo has been learning how to play Black Jack! Elmo didn't know what Black Jack was, but Eric has taught Elmo how to play! Elmo thinks that Las Vegas might be his next stop.

Elmo thinks Eric has done  a wonderful job on the story too!

Posing in Eric's  Casino

Eric questions the Candian money that Elmo bought to the table.

Elmo bought in for $500 (after the exchange rate to US$) , I suspect Shannon gave him some mad money before he left Canada.

NICE! Blackjack on the first hand! Elmo wins $7.50 on his $5 bet!

In the Vegas casino's (where Elmo's host Eric lived for 12 years) gamblers get free drinks. Elmo chose bottled water since he's a good boy, Eric just rolled his eyes.

NO NO ELMO! You don't split 10's!

OMG, he won by splitting 10's and won $50 on his $50 bet! That rarely happens, other players at the table would have been mad and shocked at the same time!

Eric, the dealer, asked Elmo if he'd like to make the table a higher limit table, Eric explained that this would prevent the cheap $5 inexperienced players from joining and messing up his mojo.

Eric transforms into a high limit dealer and puts on the standard tuxedo and bands his long hair back.

NICE! First big bet and Elmo gets a blackjack and wins $450 on his $300 bet!

Eric LOVES Elmo, he tips well!

Elmo just can't lose! After going through 2 shoes (6 decks of cards all mixed together), he's playing with $5000 chips! (blue ones) He's got a 19 and a 18 showing against the dealer's 10 . . .

Eric is in shock when he plays the dealers hand.

The dealer busts with 24 and Elmo wins $20000 on his 2 separate $10000 bets! The orange chip is worth $25000.

Elmo shows off his massive stash of chips! 175k in orange, 50k in blue, 14k in yellow, 6500 in pink, 2000 in black, 125 in green, 10 in white, 25 in red for a total of $247,660

YIKES! Elmo that was $100,000 bet and you lost!

Oh dear, Elmo is down to $60 and he's got 11 and the dealer is showing a 6! Maybe this is the time he comes back?!?!?! Double down Elmo! DOUBLE DOWN against that 6!

OH CRAP! The dealer drew a 21 and Elmo had 15! UGH! Eric assured him that he was there to comfort him on his massive roller coaster ride of winning to losing.

uh oh. Elmo misunderstood the comforting Eric was talking about. The cocktail waitress came by and she thought he meant SOUTHERN comfort. Not the kind of comfort Elmo either wanted or needed!

Eric REALLY needs to comfort him now. So sorry Elmo, that cocktail waitress is FIRED!

Eric and Elmo in the good times of his nearly quarter of a million dollar run.

Elmo had a fantastic time learning how to play Black Jack and wonders if Roulette is next on the agenda??

Stay tuned for more of Elmo and Eric's fun times!!

Love from Elmo!

Elmo and Eric!

Wow Elmo is sooooo happy to be back in the land of the living and with Eric. Elmo was so glad to get out of that box and meet his new friend. Elmo had heard so much about Eric and Elmo just couldn't wait to meet him. Elmo hopes Eric will teach him alllll about cars and football.

Elmo is now in Kentucky and is having so much fun! The first thing Eric did for Elmo was got him some new clothes. Elmo thinks he has more clothes than anyone else now!! Elmo is very sytlish.

Eric follows some team called UK. They play that funny American Football. Elmo is used to Lauren watching AFL. Elmo hopes Eric will teach him alll about American Football now that Elmo has the clothes for his new favourite team.

Tonight was Jessica's 25th Birthday and Eric made Jessica a yummy chocolate cake.
Elmo went to the party with Eric and got me meet lots of really nice people. They made Elmo feel so welcome.

Eric, Rev. Roz, Scott, Levi, Carey, Andrew, and Brady.

Elmo had a great night at Jessica's birthday party and really liked meeting Eric's friends.  Elmo is so tired now after that big party that Elmo needs to go to bed.

Eric says that there is lots of things to do and see in Kentucky and Elmo needs to rest up so he can have lots of energy to go exploring with Eric.

Elmo wants to say a big thank you to Shanny for having Elmo for Christmas and showing him the wonderful sights in her home town. Elmo is glad to go south to warmer weather now though!

More Pictures from Winnipeg

We took another trip to the Forks one evening to see the skating rinks at night with the beautiful lights. This shot is taken in the glass tower six stories up which overlooks the entire area. There are many rinks at the Forks which connect to each other and lead out to a skating path along the Red River.

Of course we had to show Elmo what downtown Winnipeg looked like, and also took this photo from the tower at the Forks.

This is another set of skating rinks just off to the right from the round rink.

Cara and Elmo stop for a pose while we strolled through Johnston Terminal...another attraction at the Forks which has many unique shops.

On another trip to see a couple of sights, we took Elmo to see a new bridge that was built and finished in December 2003 - The Esplanade Riel which is located in the French quarter of our city. It is a pedestrian bridge which also has a restaurant (the round structure below the cables). It is separate from the bridge that carries traffic across the river just a few feet beside it.

This is our Legislative building which looks best when lit up at night. Although difficult to make out in this photo (we had to take it from a distance to get the entire building in it) at the very top is the "Golden Boy". This link will show photos of its beauty without the snow and during daylight: http://www.winterpeg.com/Town/Legislature.htm

Elmo sure is having  a great time with Shannon and Cara but boy is it cold. Elmo didn't know white fluffy stuff was so wet and cold!

Elmo in Winnipeg!

Elmo has been visiting with Shannon and her daugher Cara in cold cold Winnipeg. Here are some pics of Elmo on Christmas day and having some fun with Cara.

Cara and Elmo waiting impatiently to open Christmas gifts in front of the tree. Notice there are no photos of the actual opening of gifts.... that would be because Cara decided to wake at the crack of dawn and open ALL the gifts under the tree (lucky they were all hers anyway!)

Cara, Matty and Barb in front of the tree at the annual Spurrill/Funk Christmas lunch

Cara and Elmo at the Children's Museum coming down the big slide. Elmo was soooooo brave!

Cara and Elmo had lots of fun visiting the Children's Museum at Forks Market with Grandma and Grandpa.

More pictures to come shortly as Shannon sorts out the memory cards!!

Elmo has been sent to Eric so keep your eyes peeled for more exciting Elmo updates soon!

Elmo's Travel Plans for 2010

So I know Elmo is missing in action. I am sure I know where he is, and that he is ok.. (well I hope he is!).

His travels plans for 2010 are so far looking like going down to Kentucky to Eric. I'm sure that Eric has lots of partying wonderful adventures planned for Elmo and that he will have an amazing time there with Eric and his friends. Elmo has heard that Eric likes cars and Elmo is excited to learn lots about cars from Eric.

After Eric there is a free slot! If anyone is interested in hosting Elmo for a few weeks, leave me a comment and we can organise a visit.

As most of you know I am off to Canada this year, so I'm planning on having Elmo back here to me prior to my holiday so I can take him to Hawaii and then cowboy hunting, I mean grand adventure to Calgary and the Stampede. Of course that will mean a visit back to Chaundelle!.

If anyone would like to host Elmo for a visit please contact me and we can arrange it all. Remember that this was all about sending him around the world and at the end donating him to charity to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Lauren
